How to Write a Great Song!

http://www.tylermiro.comMy way of writing a good song goes as follows. I usually take up my guitar and begin strumming some cords. I try to find a consistent melody and look for that catchy hook. A hook is a phrase that continues to repeat in a song and always returns to it. I reach down inside and pull up whatever I am feeling. If I am feeling a bit sad, that is what my song will be about and reflect. It's all emotion. Songs are feelings from the heart.

I'd say most songwriters write a song on guitar or piano first, then later ad lyrics. I do not! I write the melody at the same time I write the lyrics. They fit together and flow together. One cannot be separated from the other.

If you are a beginner songwriter, do as I say. Grab your guitar, or jump on your piano, and start to mess around with cords and let your heart dictate what it will be about. Write a 3 minute song, write a 6 minute song....in other words...write until the song finishes itself!! Write as many songs as you can. Even if they are not so good. The more you let your creative juices flow, the better you will become, and the easier it will become.

I tend to write lengthy songs.  Not by choice, it just happens. The song is not done! Let the song write itself! I tend to tell stories about love loss, runaway trains, nature, childhood memories, etc.

Be true to your heart! Don't start writing a rock song if you are more of a blues song writer. Don't write a country song if you are more of a hip hop songwriter. Maybe you don't know. I love classic rock but am more of a balladeer songwriter, therefore I write ballads.

Good luck! Try to write as many songs per week as you are able. Remember a good song can be composed of only 3 simple cords!

Robin Hood The Movie- 2010

I really loved this movie. Why the critics gave it bad reviews is beyond me. One said it was too much like Gladiator?? And what exactly was wrong with Gladiator?? Another said Robin Hood was too serious! Exactly how would he handle hardly bathing, fighting daily with a bow and arrow, not knowing  when you could die, living and sleeping in the woods, where and when and what your next meal may be,and killing! Does not make one smile and laugh too much!
Robin Hood was so authentic, filled with great big scenery, action, love, friendship, all encompassed in a beautiful truthful easy to follow story!
The acting was superb! Russel Crow as always delivers a great believable character in the story.
The movie starts out with action and climaxes to the very end with a Ridley Scott big action battle!! The love story between Robin and Marion unfolds genuinely and tastefully. The chaos of England with their young glory crazed king unravels a fight against good and evil within this country. France of course is there to take advantage of England's split between the government and it's people. Robin is there to right the wrongs!
It does not follow the cliche Robin Hoods of the past! Good!! It is a story all of it's own that is not too predictable. It is an authentic history lesson woven into a love story and fight for England with huge battles. Robin fights for freedom and justice for his people while winning the love of a father to whom he had to deliver the news of his sons death.
I do not wish to give away too much of the story if you have not already seen it in the movies or rented it. I liked it even more watching it again on DVD! Try it again if you walked away disappointed(Though I cannot see how).
I highly recommend renting or buying the best Robin Hood made.

Inspiration to write a song!

I was walking with my Elle a few nights ago and we stopped by the intercoastal water way in Boca to look at it's beauty. There was a full moon and the moons beams were glistening upon the water, but more significant...upon my Elle's face. I starred at her lovely beautiful profile and the passion flowed inside me. The next day I recalled my feelings of my Elle caught in the moon light beams....and I began a new song!

My new song will be posted soon, along with many others on my website.
